How to Manage Time and Energy with Crohn's Disease

What’s a Rich Text element?

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.

Living with Crohn's disease often means managing not just time, but also energy. Flare-ups, fatigue, and other symptoms can disrupt your plans and drain your energy. Here are some strategies to help you manage your time and energy effectively.

Understand Your Energy Patterns:

Everyone has times of the day when they feel more energetic or more fatigued. Pay attention to your own energy patterns and schedule demanding tasks for when you typically have more energy.

Prioritize Your Tasks:

Not every task is equally important. Prioritize your tasks based on their importance and urgency. Consider using a time management matrix or the Eisenhower Box method to help you decide what needs your attention first.

Break Tasks into Manageable Chunks:

Large tasks can be overwhelming, especially when you're dealing with low energy or a flare-up. Break big tasks into smaller, manageable chunks. This can make them feel less daunting and allow you to make progress even on low-energy days.

Practice Energy Conservation Techniques:

Occupational therapists often teach energy conservation techniques to help people manage chronic conditions. These techniques include balancing activity with rest, using labor-saving devices, and modifying the way you perform tasks to save energy. For more information, visit UCSF Health.

Plan for Rest:

Rest is crucial for managing Crohn's disease. Schedule regular breaks throughout your day, and make sure you're getting enough sleep at night. Listen to your body and take extra rest when you need it.

Use Tools and Technology:

There are many tools and apps available that can help you manage your time and tasks. This could include calendar apps, to-do list apps, or project management tools. Use whatever tools work best for you.

Managing time and energy with Crohn's disease can be challenging, but with the right strategies, it's entirely possible. Remember, it's okay to adjust your plans based on your energy levels, and it's okay to ask for help. With careful planning and self-care, you can manage your time and energy effectively and live a fulfilling life with Crohn's disease.
