Become a Mentor Today

Project Crohn’s relies heavily on the time of our volunteer mentors. Below is information on the process and responsibility of a PC mentor.

Why Should I Join?

It’s Meaningful

Influencing someone’s career is impactful. Making an impact on someone’s life is meaningful. We believe that sharing your story with our students enables and facilitates fruitful conversations that will guide our students to successful careers.

It's Simple

Connecting and meeting with college students can be tricky. We’ll take care of all that: scheduling, connecting, introductions, conversation prompts, and meeting agendas. We’ll make this simple for you. All you’ll need to do is read some brief agenda (it’ll be quick :) and join the virtual meeting.

It's Quick

You have the option of choosing between yearly, quarterly, monthly, and bi-weekly meetings. Each meeting will be 30 minutes. No weekly time commitment. Just show up for your meeting to talk about your career. Google Meet Video Call

It's Gratifying

The student will appreciate the meeting immediately (short term) and so will you :). But the impact on their career will also continue into the future (long-term). You’ll be pleasantly surprised.
What does becoming / being a Mentor look like?

Application

If you’re interested in joining Project Crohn’s as a mentor, please fill out the application. We use this form to review any potential mentors and to gather basic information prior to connecting them with students.

Onboarding Call

After we review your information, John Christian (Executive Director)  will schedule a 10-minute virtual meeting to explain the program, give basic directions, and explain your responsibilites.

Connection with the Student

Our staff will work to find a student interested in hearing more about your career and area of expertise. After an introductory message is sent to both you and the student, our staff will follow up by determining a schedule that works for both of you.

The Meetings (Virtual)

These will be scheduled and fascilitated by the PC staff. During the meeting, you (the Mentor), will answer and discuss questions and comments from the student. If requested, the staff can also provide questions and a meeting plan for added structure.

Follow Up

After each meeting, our staff will reach out to answer any questions or concerns and gather feedback for further interactions. Our goal is to make this process as easy and simple as possible for our mentors and students. Feel free to contact us any time.
